They are making this into a movie. I remember my 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Higgins, reading this book to us, but she couldn't finish it. For those who have never read it or heard of it, something occurs in the book and Mrs. Higgins couldn't bring herself to finish it. I might have to go see this movie as I remember the book, but never found out how it ended. I might have to go pick it up and read it myself.

I know why Mrs. Higgins quit reading it to you.
But what I want to know is why they are making so many great kids' books into movies. What is wrong with reading the books to themselves or out loud nighttime reading?
Yes, I've heard that, too. But Mrs. Higgins finished reading it to my class. The entire class cried. Even all the big bad boys. LOL.
Mrs. Higgins read it to us too. She balled before we got to the part but did finish. It remains one of my favorite books. We have it here at the house still and I still ball every time I read it. I have read it to the kids (Kate and Sami). I think they enjoy it but I can't tell because they are always laughing at poor old sappy mom.
